Press Release
DCAT to Hold Scholarship Event at TPC Course
Robbinsville, NJ, April 27, 2011 – – The DCAT Annual Golf Outing will be held on Monday, June 20, 2011 at TPC Jasna Polana Country Club in Princeton, New Jersey. Open to DCAT members and their guests, this event supports DCAT’s Science Education Scholarship Committee’s Making a Difference Award with the National Science Teachers Association and Gloves & Goggles Campaign with National Lab Network.
Considered among the top private golf courses in the state, TPC Jasna Polana’s par-72, 7,098-yard championship layout was crafted by the legendary Gary Player to blend harmoniously with its surroundings amidst the rolling hills of Princeton. While challenging for the best players, the course features multiple tees on each hole, enabling players of all abilities to enjoy the course.
Registration begins at 10:30 am, followed by a shotgun start at noon. The networking reception begins at 5:00 pm followed by dinner and awards at 6:00 pm and will be held in the neo-classical clubhouse that was formerly the country home of J. Seward Johnson, Sr. Space is strictly limited, so early registration is recommended. The event is $350 for individual players and $1,400 for a foursome. Attendance at the networking reception and dinner only is $125. Online registration is available.
As a thank you, DCAT is offering sponsors who register for this event the opportunity to return after June 20th with three guests to play Jasna Polana on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at an incredible discount rate. Sponsorship opportunities include the reception, dinner, golfers’ gifts, beverage cart, golf hole prizes, and tee and green.
About the DCAT Making a Difference Award
The DCAT Making a Difference Award, administered in conjunction with the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA,) strives to recognize and support science education programs and their educators who, through their passion for the field of science, prepare and inspire the future leaders of our industry. The award is presented annually to two science teachers (one middle school and one high school) at the NSTA National Conference. Recipients are recognized for showing effective teaching strategies combined with a science program that influence students to initiate or extend their interests in the exploration and investigation of science and its application to global problems.
About DCAT’s Gloves & Goggles Campaign 2011
DCAT’s Gloves and Goggles Campaign was developed in response to the shortage of safety gloves and goggles in science classrooms. To promote safe, hands-on learning, DCAT is supplying gloves and goggles to high school science classrooms in need. The project is promoted through the National Lab Network.
