Safety Gloves and Goggles Distributed to High School Science Classrooms
Robbinsville, NJ, June 30, 2011 – DCAT’s Gloves & Goggles Campaign in conjunction with National Lab Network recently awarded cases of safety gloves and goggles to several disadvantaged high school biology and chemistry classrooms across the country.
These awards would not have been possible without the support of our Gloves & Goggles Partners who contributed supplies and/or financial support for the project. Corporate contributors include, VWR International, LLC, DPT Laboratories, Ltd., G.J. Chemical Company, Inc., The Dow Chemical Company, ChemWerth, Inc., and RAA Associates, Inc.
Launched during DCAT Week 2011, the campaign’s goal is to promote safe, hands-on learning by supplying high school science classrooms in need with safety gloves and goggles. The project was initiated when DCAT’s Science Education Scholarship Committee learned that some schools could only afford to give students one glove for science experiments.
As the new school year approaches, we anticipate many more requests from teachers and invite corporations and individuals to make a contribution to the campaign. For additional information about the program, teachers can view the Gloves & Goggles Teacher Resource Page.
Through its science education scholarship initiatives, DCAT strives to both recognize and support science education programs and their educators who, through their passion for the field of science, influence students to initiate or extend their interests in the exploration and investigation of science and its application to global problems.
