Sourcing Clinical Research Services
Presenter: Nanette Nanjo-Jones, M.B.A., Outsourcing Consultant
What are the finer points of sourcing clinical research services? This discussion will focus on what smaller biotech / pharma companies take into consideration when outsourcing clinical trials – from deciding on what services to outsource (and what you can expect), to selecting service providers, developing the scope of services, understanding & managing costs, negotiating the contract and relationship management. The session’s discussion will be drawn from shared experiences from the presenter as well as from the audience.
An independent consultant with 20 years of experience, Nanette specializes in outsourcing practices within the bio-pharmaceutical industry and contract research organizations. She has held positions within a global CRO, global pharmaceutical company and a large biotechnology company. During her tenure at these various companies, her roles have included proposal development, contract management, outsourcing management and contractual / financial administration.
Leveraging People, Processes and Technology
Presenter: Oscar Gomez, Associate Director of Corporate Facilities Services, Genentech
How is Genentech integrating people, process and technology to achieve World Class Manufacturing? How have they prepared for the successful implementation of ERP including Master Data, Standard Operating Procedures, Training, Technology? In this session, learn how they are leveraging these tools and metrics to drive Class A behaviors to achieve planned, predictable performance.
Oscar has a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. He is the Vice President of the San Francisco Chapter of IFMA (International Facilities Management Organization).
Supply-Chain Environmental and Social Responsibility
Presented by: Michael Cox, Product Environmental Strategy Leader, Agilent Technologies
What are the keys to building and supporting a successful supply-chain E&SR program? Gain perspective from a Fortune 500 company on how they established the program’s mission, set goals and measured results. Learn about their innovative approaches to E&SR. Discussion will include pragmatic approaches on focusing scant resources to maximize value, including supplier codes of conduct.
Michael is an internal supply chain compliance consultant and holds a Masters of Science in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Diego. He has been with Hewlett-Packard and then the Agilent spin-off since 1991. He started with HP as a soil and groundwater remediation specialist and then expanded into other areas, including acquisition and divesture due diligence; EHS and quality management; facilities closure management; procurement; contract management; and, global supply-chain compliance programs, including Sarbanes-Oxley. Michael established Agilent's supplier E&SR program in 2000. He is the author of "Supply Chain Compliance Management" in Manager's Compliance Handbook, Anthony Tarantino, ed., John Wiley & Sons, NJ, 2008.

The program will take place at the Doubletree Hotel located at 835 Airport Boulevard, Burlingame, CA 94010. Located just two miles south of the San Francisco airport, the hotel is easily accessible from the 101 and other major roads.
